Frostburners of the past, present and future, we will be gathering to reminisce and imbibe Saturday March 21st at the (Burner owned!) Double Wide Grill in the Southside ( 2339 E Carson St, Pittsburgh, PA 15203) at 8pm.
We’ll have a cordoned off area to ourselves and can act appropriately or rather…not. We’ll show photos, movies and laugh about that time we almost lost a toe.
We’re checking on the possibility of a flaming tetherball appearance…stay tuned.
Please RSVP through Facebook if you’re on there: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=49875386383&ref=mf
or to our contact email. We need to give them fair warning of how many to expect. Let’s take the place over…
See you on the Tundra! Read this first!
Please read this, important info pertaining to the event.

Your Placement can be found here: http://frostburnpgh.com/Placement.html
and you can reference the Map at Coopers Lake here: http://www.cooperslake.com/docs/map.bmp

Also important to note, we strongly suggest you only drive down the hill to the lower campground if you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Even then we had a jeep with a trailer get stuck. Coopers Lake will not be responsible for getting you out and towing from the location in snow will be upwards of $200. If you need to get things down the hill the best way is to ask for help.

And this was kindly forwarded to this for you all…
The time for the 09 Burn is almost on us, just another few days! I have but a few words of wisdom for you from a medical and wilderness medic professional.
Please remember that though it may not be summer, the loving rays of the sun still do bear down and can do extensive damage to winter skin. Sunblock spf 30 is not simply recommended but considered required to keep yourself healthy at Frostburn. It will also help protect you from windburn. Your fragile face and hands need shielded, particularly when the sun hits the snow and can magnify it’s bright effects. So slather up, and smile!
Drink! Drink! Water! Yes, I know not nearly as fun as the Burly Ten Pint Men’s hot cider or spiced wine, but in the winter we can get dehydrated far to quickly and without even realizing it. Please, keep yourself hydrated and you’ll enjoy Frostburn a lot more! Signs of dehydration include feeling tired/fatigued, dizziness, dry mouth and nausea. Keep aware, and remind your friends to drink some water too!
Warmth. Duh? No really? Please, don’t walk around without your shoes on, or your shirt. You may laugh, but a lot of people become so enamored with the spirit of having fun and being free that they forget some necessities! You’re thinking to yourself, come on, it’s so cold you’d notice if you didn’t have shoes on! THe warning signs of hypothermia include, joint stiffness, fatigue, stumbling, slurred speech and stopping shivering. Sometimes people imbibe in things that make them a little less Mindful of their surroundings or personal well being, they are most likely a candidate for a Darwin award and hypothermia, please tell a friend, and stay warm! Wearing layers is the best way to stay warm, no cotton near the skin, and wear a hat, you loose most of your body heat through your head.
Fire..fire burns.. fire hot.. Cave man talk aside, I know it’s cold. It’s REALLY cold. Leave the fire, in the fire pit. Don’t wander around with it, don’t stick your hand in it, and please don’t try to dry your socks by sticking your feet in it. Do not, under any circumstance put an open flame in your tent. No candles, no oil lamps or torches. I’ve seen people shrink wrapped in their own tents because of this. If you’re cold, find a friend, snuggle!!
Above all else, have fun, and with a little common sense we’ll be injury free!

Online ticket sales are now over, all tickets and firewood must be purchased at the gate now.
**********************************
Please drive safely and plan to stay warm, Friday will be pretty cold but there’s enough of us to keep each other warm.
See you on the Tundra!
First Pic from the Frostburn site!
Frostburners, our wishes have come true and barring a serious upturn in Global Warming in the next week, we’ll have snow and lots of it at Coopers Lake. We were working up there today in 8 inches of the stuff and it was not too cold at all, perfect for snow activities. Plan to bring sleds and anything else you want to have fun in the snow with. Also plan to bring a snow shovel to clear space for your vehicle and shelter, a ground cover or tarp under your shelter will help keep you warm and dry as well. And MOST importantly bring what you need to stay warm and keep others warm.
Firewood Update
We now have Firewood on sale through the tickets page:
Due to an Emerald Ash Borer quarantine and resulting campground regulations, all firewood must be purchased through us (and delivered by our approved provider). You may not bring firewood to the event, sell firewood (or anything else) at the event, or remove unused firewood from the campground. Lumber and other wood-based building materials are not affected by the quarantine and may be used in fires.
RESERVED:
We are going to sell Firewood for the event in “Wheelbarrow loads” at $25.00 apiece. Purchase your wood on the website, print your receipt and show it at the front gate (or to a volunteer if the gate is not being manned). You will then be directed to where you can pick up your wood. You will be responsible for transporting the wood to your camp (and returning the wheelbarrow.)
EVENT SALES:
Firewood will also be sold in “Wheelbarrow loads” for $25.00 (cash only) while supplies last during the event. It is recommended you buy ahead of time as there is no guarantee we will have wood available throughout the entire event.

Come one, come all to Avocado Tom’s:
421 Birmingham Ave Pittsburgh PA 15210 (in scenic Carrick! …In
1853, Dr. John H. O’Brien received permission from the U. S. Postal

was given the honor of naming it, and he chose “Carrick” after his
home town, Carrick-on-Suir, Ireland. Now you know!)
Festivities will commence promptly at 7:00pm with an entertaining and
